Err?

Something smells. If you have a local agent, give them a call and run it by them....

That is incorrect you can buy back your "own salvage" less salvage bid amount! :naughty:

they want to sell it and profit-- that is why they are giving you a hard time.

I had to go pick up my jeep from the appraisers and put a tarp over it. I fought with insurance to buy it back and they were claiming that I was getting a good deal, but we all know how much are MODS are worth.

if you want it, rebuild it, and keep it. Fight to buy it back. you should be dealing with your insurance company to buy it back.

The insurance folk can say if this is worth while or not but I would let them know, IN WRITING, that you want to buy it back. That way if they don't allow it or sell it first you will have documentation showing you expressed interest. Might allow you to get more money for it or something. IDK. I just like documenting things in writing.

Ok so I've done some reading and the general consensus is apparently once they have paid me the cash value on the vehicle they now own it and can choose to do what they want with it. They are not obligated to sell it back to me. Like Amanda said, they just want a profit. I'm going to try and find out where it is in salvage.

We all told you not to release it to them and you never pm'd me for assistance. 25 years as a claims examiner and total loss adjuster i could have been a great help.

honestly, if they already took away your jeep-- its gone. And you can't buy it at auction.

I wasn't personally intersted in buying back at all, I just had a couple people intersted in what they could buy it back for. Honestly it didn't seem worth it. I was also have some tranny problems before the accident on top of the axle and frame damage from the accident. There was absolutely no way I was going to come up with that much money out of pocket especially with the shop telling me the only rubi Dana 44 they could find was $3000 used.

I already bought another rubicon and pocketed some of the money they gave me to start building. They actually gave me $300 more than what I bought it for 3 years ago after putting 50k miles on it and over $2500 more than book value. I didn't really add many more mods to it, most of it was built when I bought it. I knew I was getting a good deal, which is why I did not pm you. I apologize to everyone who was interested's inconvenience but I was really in desperate need to find a replacement and the salvage value was the last thing on my mind until last week.

2006 rubicon with only 73k on it. Pretty much stock but I've got some parts in mind. Mostly right now looking into a 2" OME suspension lift and 1" BL on top of some 33's and some nice bumpers. Don't want to go too extreme for this one, just a good DD and occasional weekend wheeler.

If you have the money, you'e be amazed what a good detailer can do. You'll still have a multi color jeep, but it will look like it came from the factory that way.
