Re: Spring repairs

Unfortunately, it is not the air seal. There's something worn or damaged internally. I have it out on the bench, with a new air seal collar and o-rings, and I can engage it (a shop air compressor), feel and hear it lock and unlock. But while it is engaged, there is a definite leak of air from somewh...

Re: Spring repairs

Ahh, ok. yeah so if air is just leaking past the seal it would probably sound just like I'm hearing. I have a replacement seal in hand... we'll see.

Re: Spring repairs

Well I finally found a video where showing replacement of the entire parking brake module:

I think I ordered cheapo ones (Dorman?). Maybe a Mopar part will fit better? I cleaned up the axle tube end quite a lot but I bet a little more sanding wouldn't hurt.

Spring repairs

Where I'm at now: Rear end on jacks, old axle shafts out, old emergency brakes removed. New axles are Yukon chromoly upgrade. A few questions for those of you who maybe have been through this? PXL_20220404_173019506.jpg 1. I opted to replace the entire parking brake module (plate and hardware). The ...

Re: our club

Frank, you will be sorely missed. The moment I walked into the spring meeting for the first time, I was like who's this loudmouth making all these comments. Ha! You make the club better, and everyone you've helped, spotted for or encouraged to push themselves just a little more! Thank you! I hope I ...

Re: 4 wheel Inflation/deflation setup

For the hot part right out of the compressor (I have an ARB dual) you can use E85 fuel line (flare fitting). Adapters from NPT to Flare are easy to find on Amazon. That hose comes in metric (ID= 6, 8, 10MM etc). The E85 rated hose is lined with thermoplastic (PTFE Teflon) good for 400F/3000psi. Outs...

Re: Huge Artec Sale

Excuses? Ha. Who needs those? I got a quote from Barret Fab for the new Apex front axle truss. https://www.artecindustries.com/jkapexf He said they just finished up a job, sent pics. Very tempting but I can wait and go easy on the boulders till then. Maybe it's a good time to scoop the parts and sch...

Re: JLU Rubicon Mopar 2” Lift

Ride height is set by springs. If the Rubicon JL sits taller from the factory it's in the springs. You won't be adding onto that already increased ride height because you're replacing them with new ones. That means for every inch taller your Jeep is starting out from the factory, it would be one inc...

Re: JLU Rubicon Mopar 2” Lift

I will second what Frank said. You'll be wishing for just a little more clearance on a JLU at 2". But another thing to consider is the stated lift height and what you get as a result aren't always the same (commonly higher because lift springs are made to compensate for other aftermarket add-on...

Re: JLU Rubicon Mopar 2” Lift

You caught me up early with the baby, so I will take the time to share what I learned last year :-) I looked at the Mopar lifts for a while last year. They are designed by Mopar to be complete (JK kits include a front driveshaft!). My guess is that it will ride fine without a new track bar. If you n...

Re: Need help diagnosing steering problem

The stock drag link uses a double threaded adjustment collar, with a clamp around it to lock in place (not jam nuts) and held by two bolts. I recall that adjustment slipping on me, quite a few times until I upgraded it. Also, the stock tie rod will bend if given half a chance. Sent from my Pixel 4 u...

Had a blast in the blue/black group. Met some new people, saw some familiar faces as well. Top notch day.

Sorry I missed the cute pup!
